The village lies about 1700m.a.s.l located 14km away from Moshi town that represents one of the few Chagga villages bordering with the Kilimanjaro National Park. The most interesting thing about this village is also the people that are found here, famous known as Chagga. Chagga are the ethnic group that lives along the slopes of mount Kilimanjaro.     ABOUT THE ATTRACTION Materuni village is one of the evergreen, unspoiled and a beautiful place famous for its aromatic rich organic Arabica coffee along the slopes of the magnificent Kilimanjaro Mountain. In this delightful village its people still live their authentic life about 1700m.a.s.l located 14km away from Moshi town. After arrival and registration at the village office your hike to the waterfall will start. We will then hike to the waterfall approximately 45 minutes. Along the way you will learn about local village life and different types of flora and fauna while enjoying breath-taking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, landscapes and friendly local people. Bring a swimsuit and towel so that you may enjoy a refreshing dip swim in the natural pool at the base of the falls. Then, back to a Local Chagga house and you will learn how to process a coffee from fresh coffee bean until you have it in your cup, meanwhile learning some local motivational songs while making your own cup of coffee, it is a fun way to immerse yourself in a coffee making process, this is the time you become the local barista. This experience will end with you enjoying a cup of aromatic organic Materuni coffee.

    Chemka hotspring represent one of the very few places in Tanzania that provide relaxation, refreshment and enjoyment swim on warm water with a fascinating free black fish massage. The place originates after a volcanic eruption of the Mt. Kilimanjaro 2000years ago that enabled the formation of depression feature that was once a lava outlet then emerged like oasis in the desert. The hot-spring is surrounded by palm and fig trees with charming sprawling winding roots that makes it look like a hidden paradise with fairly deep attractive pond with turquoise water.

    Your guide will drive you to Chemka hotspring and on the way you will see various crops such as sugarcane, maize,banana, beans, onions, potatoes and then baobab trees that are scattered all around. Upon your arrival at Chemka hotspring the crystal clear with turquoise water entice you to a refreshing swim with free black fish massage taking away all your dead body tissues.It is also interesting to jump in the water using a swing rope. Aftersome few hours in the water you will have your hot lunch of your preferences

    Kilimanjaro Day Hike

    ABOUT THE ATTRACTION

    This is a fascinating excursion as it will allow you to experience the excitement of hiking on the highest peak of the famed Mt. Kilimanjaro on the African continent just in a day; nicknamed “the roof of Africa” however; you will not reach the summit.

    TOUR DETAILS:

    After breakfast your certified Kilimanjaro guide will come to pick you at your hotel in Moshi/Arusha and drive to Kilimanjaro National Park (1hour from Moshi)/Arusha (2.5hours). After arrival at Kilimanjaro National park; Marangu Gate (1879m) you will register at the park office and your guide will take you to a special demonstration area where you will get all the theoretical understanding of the mountain and all its interesting stories before you practically climb it. When this is over your hike will start polepole” means slowly –slowly passing through a montane rainforest with a lot of bird’s life, hundreds of different species of trees, blue monkeys and black and white colobus monkeys within their natural habitat. On your climb 3- 4 hours you will experience tourists going up and others coming down and you can have the opportunity to learn their experience of their climb as this is the famous route nicknamed “Cocacola route. When you reach Mandara Hut (2720m) you will have a rest for a while before having your picnic lunch. After lunch your guide will take you for a short walk approximately 20 minutes to Maundi crater and with some luck you can have a closer magnificent view of the highest peak in Africa: Uhuru peak (5895m) and the third highest peak in Africa: Mawenzi Peak (5149m). You can also see Shira plateau (3962m), a stunning view of Lake Jipe and the plains of Pare and Usambara mountains. When you are done you will descend back 2-3 hours to Marangu gate and drive back to Moshi/Arusha while enjoying thrilling sunset.

    Maasai Village Tour

    ABOUT THE ATTRACTION

    Maasai represent a Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting northern Tanzania. Maasai speak a Maa language with traditional nomadic lifestyle.

    TOUR DETAILS

    After breakfast your guide will pick you from your hotel and the journey to Maasai village will start approximately one hour drive from Moshi. Upon your arrival at the village you will be welcomed by a Maasai warrior before introduced to the rest of the clan. He will introduce to you a Maasai guide that will accompany you in the tour with your guide you came with for any assistance needed such as language barrier or taking some photos. Your Maasai guide will take you inside a Maasai house for dressing in a Maasai costume. You (male tourist) will be dressed with a warrior and female tourist will be handled by Maasai ladies. When you come outside (now you look like a Maasai) your Maasai guide will take you in a special place for explanation about Maasai history, traditions, age-set systems and how to become a warrior. An interesting part awaits you: Maasai traditional dance. Maasai dance is full of fun, amusement, interesting and socializing. You will also have a chance to walk to see how Maasai graze cattle, their architectural designs and traditional medicines.

    After this fun, you will join some of the Maasai warriors in making fire out of special piece of wooden stick and donkey dung/pup just by bare hand. This will leave you fascinated! You will finish your tour on a traditional tree for a Maasai herbal tea before saying goodbye and return to Moshi or Arusha..

    “When the past meets the present”

    ABOUT THE ATTRACTION

    The word “Marangu” came from the language of indigenous people of The Chagga ethnic group that means “a place with too many water streams”. You will notice this from myriad rural water pathways, countless rivers and waterfalls with evergreen environment. Marangu Village sits along the south-eastern slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro at the lower level of the montane rainforest about 5kms from the Kilimanjaro National Park. This densely populated village is the home of the Chagga people, although you will not observe that due to a dense vegetation cover. This village is beautiful with array of coffee farms, banana plantations and attractive waterfalls that provide a nice place to swim.

    TOUR DETAILS

    Early in the morning after breakfast your guide will pick you from your hotel around 7:30am in Moshi (1hour drive)/Arusha (2.5hrs drive) and depart to Marangu Village. Upon arrival at the village you will start a tour by visiting the famous Kilimanjaro National Park gate (1870m) which is the headquarters of Kilimanjaro National Park and a two way route (ascending and descending) from the mountain. While you are at the gate you will learn all about the mountaineering climbing skills, history, flora and fauna. While exploring the area, you’ll also observe the preparations of mountain guides, porters and tourists on their way up. When this is over you will walk towards the Marangu evergreen valley to see the surrounding lush environment with magnificent view of canopies and agricultural farming practices of Chagga coffee farms, vegetables and cereals. After this short walk Chagaa hot lunch awaits you. You will have your hot lunch in a local Chagga restaurant adjacent to the Marangu gate (please let us know any special food requirements i.e allergy) and testing popular local banana beer. After lunch you will drive for 15 minutes and have the opportunity to visit the Chagga caves that narrate the historic Tribal war between the Chagga and the Maasai 200 years ago and then head off to this picturesque Ndoro waterfall which you will spend the rest of the few hours before we drive back to Moshi or Arusha.
